The company was founded in 1991 as a private family company specializing in the sale of seafood. Its activities in the 90s were related only to this type of retail trade. The main part of the goods came primarily from Bulgarian companies but at times this led to inconsistent quality and lack of control and consistency in deliveries. This is why, in 2000, the way of working until that time was changed completely. Investment was made in big store facilities and a greater assortment for sale. In 2013, the company opened its own production and logistics faciltiies in the residential area of Vrazhdebna, where salmon is processed mainly to make raw and smoked salmon fillets as well as other types of seafood.
Since then the company has been an importer and producer of seafood and sushi products from more than 30 countries all over the world. At present the assortment is exceeding 1400 products in the categories: frozen, chilled, dry and non-food products. The production of the company is distributed successfully in the Bulgaria’s leading restaurants, hotels and hypermarkets and exported to 5 EU countries.
The fast-growing market share of the company and customer’ expectations demand taking more serious steps. A decision was made to invest in bigger cold stores, office facilities and higher-quality shops for seafood and sushi. This did not seem sufficient, so it was complemented by the only salmon and other fish type processing factory of its kind in Bulgaria.
In 2011, search and preparation for construction at the right place in Sofia began. A project for building the new facilities was drawn up and approved. In addition, at the beginning of 2012, a contract was signed under a European programme: “Operational Programme for Development of the Fisheries Sector 2007-2013” for “Building a Fish Processing and Cold Storage Facility”.
In 2012, the company began the construction the modern logistics and production facilities with a total area of 3,050 m2, of which 800 m2 belong to a factory situated on the underground level and a cold store with an area of 1,200 m2. The storage capacity is 700 Euro-pallets at -24°C, without refrigeration 200 pallets and 90 pallet places for chilled products. The construction of the whole building was completed at the end of the same year.
The factory is equipped with а beheading and thinning line for salmon with capacity of 20 fish per minute, a trimming line, removal of pin bones, machine skinning, fillet washing, smoking chambers, shock freezers, a cutting line for chilled and smoked fillets, vacuum lines and many other facilities of this type. Salmon is smoked using a unique technology with beech and oak sawdust achieving one-of-a-kind and easy to distinguish high-quality taste. Salmon is cut in an extremely precise and delicate manner allowing to obtain a slice as thin as 2 mm.
To guarantee the constant quality and high levels of hygiene in the factory, one of the family members is constantly engaged in the production and a physician employed solely and entirely for the company. There is a fully integrated HACCP plan in the factory. The production of the company has an IFS certificate, the highest certification level on food quality and safety.
To control the stocks, production, logistics, customer relations and shops and to track lots to the customers and back to the source we have integrated a modern ERP system allowing extreme precision in work and zero mistakes.
Besides sales in the whole of Bulgaria, at present the company is exporting its production to Romania, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy and is expecting to export to non-EU countries.
